New York State DEC Sportsman’s Education:

Hunter Safety Course, Bow Hunter Safety Course, Trapper Course and Waterfowl ID Course.

All hunters must first take a Sportsman’s education course before they can purchase hunting or trapping license. You may take a course here at the LI Outdoorsman for free of charge. Due to long delays between classes and a long waiting list, we suggest that you check the NYS DEC Sportsman’s Education class list frequently for class availability. Once you have completed the required Sportsman’s education course, you may purchase your hunting license here at the LI Outdoorsman annually. There is also an option for lifetime license for a one-time fee. Prices for these licenses vary depending upon type of license and the age of the licensee.
